The Weir Group is seeking a Melting Operator for our Newton, MA facility on the 2nd shift (10-hour shifts) with overtime as needed. You will monitor furnace conditions, manage refractory maintenance, and log heat data to support safe, efficient operation.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED and at least 1 year of manufacturing experience. A strong work ethic and reliable attendance are essential to succeed in this role.

Competenze

  • Ability to work second shift and 10-hour shifts with overtime flexibility.

Mansioni

  • Check furnace condition and verify proper charge is placed in the furnace.
  • Activate the electronic heat log in the melting subsystem.
  • Follow the specified sequence and safety requirements.
  • Assist with data collection and lean initiatives (6S, Visual Management, Kaizen).
  • Tapping on pitch and updating pitch boards.
  • Perform other duties as directed by the company.

**Job Title**: Melting Operator**Division: Weir ESCO****Location**: **Newton****2nd Shift** | 4-day workweek (10-hour shifts) with overtime and occasional Fridays as needed.**Purpose of Role:**Responsible for melting steel to a molten bath, must be familiar with the equipment used in maintaining or repairing the refractory lining of the furnace and with the furnace refractory requirements, and will use this equipment to maintain the refractory coating on the inside of the furnace at all times. **Why choose Weir:** **Be part of a global organization dedicated to building a better future:** At Weir, the growing world depends on us.
