Qualifications

• Graduated from an accredited school or college of mortuary science.
• Current Funeral Director license within the practicing state.
• Valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving record required to operate company owned vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Receives or initiates calls to deceased next of kin, verifies information, discusses needs, schedules appointments, and emails confirmations.
• May perform removals or transfers; cares for the deceased respectfully; updates status in proprietary software.
• Greets next of kin, escorts to meeting space, facilitates Arrangements Conference, discusses life insurance and other benefits, and promotes additional services.
• Reviews and authorizes merchandise and service contract revisions; transitions Arrangement Conference to Funeral Services Counselor/Advisor.
• Confirms authorization to proceed with service arrangements and presides as MC for visitation, funeral, or graveside services.
• Interacts with family to fulfill death care requests and gathers leads for pre-need services.
• Performs event planning tasks including arranging music, flowers, catering, and producing memorial materials; prepares event space and handles post-event tasks.
• Performs attendant duties (parking, usher, pallbearer, courier) and may attend community events to represent the location.
• Works under general guidance, maintains regulatory compliance, and seeks guidance from management as needed.
