Job summary

American Lung Association is seeking a Development Manager to lead fundraising campaigns (Fight For Air Climbs and Oxygen Ball Gala) and drive revenue growth. You will recruit sponsors, team captains, participants, and donors while managing budgets, timelines, and event logistics.

The role requires 3–5 years in fundraising, strong relationship skills, and the ability to travel up to 40% in the assigned area. This is a hybrid in‑person/virtual role in St. Louis and Springfield, IL.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Non‑Profit Management, Marketing, or a related field is required.
• Minimum of 3–5 years’ fundraising experience.
• Demonstrated success in external relationship management and volunteer recruitment.
• Proven ability to cultivate and steward relationships across a diverse population.
• Ability to multi‑task in a fast‑paced work environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; proficient in social and digital media.
• Valid Driver’s license and reliable transportation; ability to travel within the assigned area 40% of the time.
• Ability to lift and carry 25 lbs. of event supplies.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Fight For Air Climbs (St. Louis & Springfield, IL) and Oxygen Ball Gala fundraising campaigns to meet revenue goals.
• Recruit and cultivate sponsors, team captains, participants, and donors.
• Manage budgets, timelines, vendors, and event logistics.
• Coach and retain Climb team captains and participants through year‑round cultivation strategies.
• Create event‑day revenue drivers and secure auction items for the gala.
• Collaborate with Marketing to create campaign materials and secure media partnerships.
• Oversee donor recognition, invoicing, and website/database updates.
