Job summary

U.S.VETS, headquartered in Houston, seeks a Development & Communications Manager to lead fundraising and community engagement locally while partnering with national leadership. The role blends strategy with hands-on execution in a fast-paced nonprofit setting.

You will drive donor relations, plan signature events, and manage local marketing, storytelling, and sponsorship efforts to advance veteran services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience.
• 3-5 years of nonprofit fundraising experience, including events, corporate, and individual giving.
• Demonstrated success securing donor investments and sponsorships.
• Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
• Experience with donor databases (Blackbaud preferred) and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Lead site fundraising initiatives to exceed annual goals of approximately $750,000.
• Build and steward relationships with individual donors, corporate partners, and community organizations.
• Plan and execute signature fundraising events and sponsorship campaigns.
• Collaborate with national development leadership on integrated fundraising strategies.
• Represent the organization in the community through presentations, partnerships, and volunteer engagement.
• Track donor engagement and fundraising activity using various donor databases.
• Manage local marketing, social media, and public relations efforts.
• Share compelling client success stories and mission-focused content.
• Maintain fundraising and communications calendars and develop branded materials.
