Job description

The Fundraising and Development VISTA will build Storytime Village’s capacity to secure and sustain the resources needed to expand early-literacy opportunities for underserved children and families. During the year-long term, the VISTA will strengthen fundraising and development systems by researching prospective grants, foundations, corporations, and community partners; maintaining a funding opportunity calendar; supporting the preparation of grant proposals and reports; developing donor communications and fundraising materials; and improving systems for tracking donors, partnerships, grant requirements, and development outcomes. The VISTA will also help create strategies and resources to support annual fundraising campaigns, special events, corporate sponsorships, individual giving, and the long-term sustainability of Storytime Village’s programs and Literacy Center. The member will document processes, develop templates and tools, and help establish a development infrastructure that staff and future members can continue using. This capacity-building role will strengthen Storytime Village’s ability to support programs such as Read & Rise, Literacy Champions, LEAP, Storytime in the Park, the Kansas Literacy Festival, and other initiatives that increase children’s access to books, literacy experiences, and community resources. By improving the organization’s fundraising systems and community partnerships, the VISTA will help Storytime Village expand its reach, reduce barriers to literacy resources, and create lasting educational opportunities for children and families.
