Job summary

HDR is seeking a Funding/Financing Intern for the Washington, D.C. office to develop skills in funding evaluation, grant strategy, strategic planning, and financial planning for infrastructure projects.

You will support budgeting processes, analyze potential funding sources, and assist in developing financial strategies for transportation and water infrastructure. Strong communication and analytical abilities are essential in HDR’s employee-owned culture.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program
• Interest and potential experience in budgeting, capital improvement planning, or financial analysis for transportation agencies and/or governments
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• Ability to interact with clients and work in a collaborative, employee-owned culture

Responsibilities

• Assist development of financial plans and models
• Assist in identifying projects for discretionary grant funding from state and federal programs
• Research and evaluate funding sources and financing strategies for transportation and water infrastructure projects
• Support analysis of financial, economic, and statistical data for infrastructure projects
• Conduct data collection and processing using available financial and economic data sources
• Contribute to developing solutions addressing economic, financial, and policy issues impacting infrastructure
• Coordinate with internal and external project teams for data collection and analysis
• Research and write reports and technical documents
• Perform other duties as needed
