Job summary

MFS (Massachusetts Financial Services Company) offers a 6‑month co‑op position focused on internal controls and risk management within Fund Treasury. You will learn SOC concepts, document controls, and support vendor payments and expense analyses as part of Undergraduate co‑op requirements.

The program runs 35–40 hours/week, Monday–Friday, with a hybrid work environment (remote/onsite). Applicants should be enrolled in a co‑op program at their college or university.

Qualifications

• Interest in financial services, mutual funds and compliance.
• Willingness to learn internal control frameworks and risk assessment.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Familiarity with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) helpful.
• Familiarity with SOC 1 / SOC 2 helpful.

Responsibilities

• Learn internal control techniques with Fund Treasury processes.
• Identify key control points to ensure procedures meet standards.
• Document and flowchart business processes focusing on risks and controls.
• Maintain procedures in DIVA, MFS's database.
• Coordinate payment instructions to external vendors timely and accurately.
• Assist in monitoring asset-based fees, expense caps, and budgets.
• Participate in risk/control and fund accounting/custody projects.
• Support Accounting Oversight with ad hoc projects and distributions.
