Job summary

Vaco by Highspring is seeking an Assistant Controller - Fund Finance in New York City on-site five days a week. You will support accounting, reporting, and operational finance activities across investment vehicles, with exposure to fund accounting and financial reporting in private markets.

The ideal candidate has hands-on accounting experience, strong Excel skills, and a collaborator mindset to work with finance leadership and external providers. CPA is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• CPA preferred but not required.
• Experience in fund accounting, fund administration, investment management or related financial services.
• Understanding of investment fund structures, capital activity, and investor reporting.
• Experience working with external service providers is desirable.
• Strong accounting, analytical, and organizational skills.
• Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial data.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Interested in building a career within private markets, alternative investments, or fund finance.
• Fund administration or investment fund accounting experience is a strong plus.

Responsibilities

• Support the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes for investment vehicles and related entities.
• Assist with fund accounting activities, including investor transactions, capital activity, allocations, and financial reporting.
• Review and reconcile accounting records, investment activity, and supporting schedules.
• Coordinate with third-party administrators, auditors, tax advisors, and other service providers.
• Assist with valuation support, portfolio reporting, and financial analysis activities.
• Prepare financial statements, management reports, and investor reporting deliverables.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities for the management company.
• Participate in audit, tax, and compliance-related projects.
• Help improve accounting processes, reporting workflows, and internal controls.
• Contribute to special projects and operational initiatives as the organization grows.
