Job summary

The Children's Receiving Home of Sacramento is seeking a Fund Development Director to lead a comprehensive fundraising strategy and drive long-term financial resilience. You will personally cultivate major gifts, oversee a full development program, and work closely with the CEO, Board, and donors to advance CRH's mission.

Ideal candidates bring 5+ years of nonprofit fundraising, strong donor stewardship, and CRM proficiency, with a passion for serving youth and building sustainable private

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressive nonprofit fundraising experience with a personal track record closing major gifts.
  • Experience managing a full development program — major gifts, grants, planned giving, events, and campaigns.
  • CRM proficiency (Salesforce, Bloomerang, or similar) and collaboration with senior leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Build and lead a comprehensive fund development strategy — major gifts, planned giving, grants, campaigns, and events
  • Personally cultivate, solicit, and close major and transformational gifts
  • Manage a portfolio of significant donors with individualized, high‑touch stewardship
  • Develop and grow a planned giving program to build long‑term philanthropic sustainability
  • Lead prospect research and pipeline development to continuously identify new giving opportunities
  • Partner with the CEO, Board, and Fund Development Committee on fundraising priorities and donor strategy
  • Represent CRH in the community — with civic leaders, corporate partners, and the local philanthropic community
  • Hire, coach, and lead a development team committed to mission and results

Are you a seasoned fundraising leader ready to make a transformative impact for Sacramento's youth?

My client, the Children's Receiving Home of Sacramento, a trusted Sacramento nonprofit helping youth facing trauma and adversity find stability, healing, and hope — is seeking a Fund Development Director to lead our next chapter of growth.

This is a pivotal moment for CRH. As we build a sustainable philanthropic model and reduce our reliance on government funding, we need a strategic, relationship-driven fundraiser to grow private revenue, deepen donor engagement, and position CRH for long‑term financial resilience.

What You'll Do
  • Build and lead a comprehensive fund development strategy — major gifts, planned giving, grants, campaigns, and events
  • Personally cultivate, solicit, and close major and transformational gifts
  • Manage a portfolio of significant donors with individualized, high‑touch stewardship
  • Develop and grow a planned giving program to build long‑term philanthropic sustainability
  • Lead prospect research and pipeline development to continuously identify new giving opportunities

What We're Looking For

  • Strong relationship management skills and ability to engage diverse stakeholders
  • Board engagement experience and comfort working with senior leadership
  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's or CFRE preferred
  • CRM proficiency (Salesforce, Bloomerang, or similar)
  • Deep passion for CRH's mission and a collaborative, donor‑centered mindset
