Responsabilités

• Review wire transfers, associated journal entries and follow up on transaction status.
• Prepare/Review allocations, support, JE’s across funds for expenses and investments.
• Prepare fund investor capital calls, distributions, and management fee calculations.
• Coordinate payment and tracking of intercompany transactions.
• Reconcile Fund, middle tier, JV and SPE investment and equity accounts.
• Maintain historical and forecasted cash tracking schedules.
• Coordinate fund reimbursement of expenses with JV partners.
• Assist in quarterly valuation process.
• Involvement in fund/deal setup and structuring.
• Prepare monthly and quarterly workpapers to support Fund activity.
• Assist with quarterly financial statements, including footnotes, per US GAAP, Investment Company accounting.
• Address audit inquiries.
• Prepare quarterly investor statements.
• Assist external investor requests and internal firm analyses.
• Provide information to external tax consultants for annual tax work.

Our client is a real estate private equity fund manager with nearly $4B in AUM and headquartered in Manhattan. The firm currently employs more than 90 professionals and is actively expanding its finance team.

Position Overview

The firm is seeking a Real Estate Private Equity Fund Accountant to join its growing finance team and support the accounting and reporting functions across the firm’s investment vehicles. This role will focus on fund accounting, investor allocations, financial reporting, and operational support for the firm’s private equity real estate funds and related entities.

The client is looking for candidates with 2–5+ years of relevant accounting experience supporting private investment funds, with exposure to real estate, private credit, and/or traditional private equity strategies. A combination of public accounting and private fund experience is preferred.

Key Responsibilities

Operations

• Review wire transfers, associated journal entries and follow up on transaction status
• Prepare/Review allocations, support, JE’s across funds for expense payments and investment fundings/distributions
• Preparation of fund investor capital calls, distributions, and management fee calculations and related wires/notices.
• Coordinate payment and tracking of intercompany transactions
• Reconciliation of Fund, middle tier, JV and SPE investment and equity accounts
• Maintain historical and forecasted cash tracking schedules
• Coordinate fund reimbursement of expenses with JV partners
• Assist in quarterly valuation process

Financial Statements Preparation/Reporting

• Prepare monthly and quarterly workpapers to support Fund activity
• Assist with preparation of quarterly financial statements, including footnotes, in accordance with US GAAP, in particular, Investment Company accounting.
• Address audit inquiries
• Prepare quarterly investor statements
• Assist with external investor requests and internal firm requests/analyses
• Provide information to external tax consultants for annual tax work, and review of such work for relevant tax required reporting

Required Education and Experience

• 2-5 years accounting experience required. Real estate fund accounting or public accounting experience in the financial services industry preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance discipline, CPA or working towards accreditation preferred
• Microsoft Office proficiency required; particularly strong Excel skills.
• Knowledge of Yardi general ledger is system a plus.
• A track record of process improvement and/or development
• An ability to both work in detail and to critically review finished work product
• Ability to work in a group dynamic and efficiently balance and prioritize tasks with multiple team members
