Job summary

Ford Motor Company is strengthening its core Functional Safety capability to support the development of complex, software-enabled vehicle technologies spanning motion control, brakes, steering, and related distributed systems.

The Functional Safety Engineer will be part of a Product Development team applying ISO 26262 principles from concept through production, collaborating with global engineering teams to deliver safe, robust vehicle systems.

Qualifications

ISO 26262 and Functional Safety concepts experience.
Experience reading and authoring technical requirements and engineering documentation.
Cross-functional product development experience.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with cross-functional and global Product Development teams to perform ISO 26262 Functional Safety analysis for new and carry-over vehicle technologies.
Develop, maintain, and deliver Functional Safety work products, including safety analyses, ratings, concepts, requirements, and supporting documentation.
Work with subject matter experts to identify hazards, define safety requirements, and support safe system design decisions.
Apply Ford Functional Safety processes, methods, tools, and training for consistent execution and traceability.
Use MBSE and SysML to improve clarity, reuse, integration, and efficiency of Functional Safety analysis.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to simplify processes and improve delivery speed while maintaining safety.
