We are seeking a passionate, experienced, and highly skilled Functional Lead, SAP Controlling (CO) to support enterprise-wide digital transformation initiatives. As a member of a cross-functional digital delivery organization and Agile program team, you will lead the definition, planning, and delivery of iterative releases across critical business platforms using Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) principles.

This role partners closely with Finance business stakeholders, Product Management, Solution Architects, Agile delivery teams, and supporting functions to drive process transformation and business value realization.

The Functional Lead serves as a trusted advisor to business leaders and product teams by providing deep SAP CO expertise, recommending modern technology solutions, and promoting industry-leading practices. In addition to driving process improvements, this role plays a key part in solution design and architecture, providing guidance to configuration consultants and ensuring scalable, integrated solutions that align with strategic business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide SAP CO process and solution expertise to drive standardization and scalable solution design.
• Lead design decision-making and resolve complex functional and business process challenges in partnership with Product Managers and Product Owners.
• Define process scope and required system enhancements while promoting standard functionality whenever possible.
• Translate business requirements into comprehensive end-to-end SAP CO solution designs.
• Guide configuration consultants and technical teams to ensure solutions align with architectural standards and business objectives.
• Collaborate closely with Solution Architects to develop the functional roadmap and support enterprise-wide integration strategies.
• Partner with business and product teams to identify, quantify, and track value drivers and expected outcomes.
• Participate actively in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, execution, and delivery.
• Help teams prioritize and sequence work effectively to achieve sprint and program objectives.
• Provide functional leadership to ensure high-quality and timely solution delivery.
• Advocate for configuration-first approaches and minimize unnecessary customizations.
• Define testing scope and ensure complete end-to-end process validation.
• Support organizational change initiatives through stakeholder engagement and readiness activities.
• Contribute to cutover planning and execution across business and technical workstreams.
• Drive issue resolution, manage risks, and proactively remove delivery roadblocks.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Finance, Information Systems, Business, or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience in SAP FICO, with significant expertise in SAP Controlling (CO).
• Strong knowledge of SAP Controlling capabilities and industry best practices.
• Proven experience leading end-to-end solution design and providing direction to configuration teams.
• Deep understanding of controlling processes and experience delivering multiple complex SAP implementation programs.
• Hands-on experience designing and implementing SAP CO solutions, including:
  • Profitability Analysis (CO-PA)
  • Product Costing
  • Cost Center Accounting
  • Profit Center Accounting
• Experience contributing to solution architecture, digital transformation initiatives, and product roadmap development.
• Strong understanding of enterprise process flows including:
  • Order-to-Cash (O2C)
  • Procure-to-Pay (P2P)
  • Record-to-Report (R2R)
  • Plan-to-Produce (P2P)
• Experience integrating SAP CO with Sales, Procurement, Manufacturing, and related SAP modules.
• Advanced Excel skills for financial reconciliation, reporting, and data validation activities.
• Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC), SAP implementation methodologies, and project management practices.
• Working knowledge of Agile delivery frameworks including Scrum, Kanban, and SAFe.

Preferred

• SAP S/4HANA Finance certification.
• Experience completing at least one end-to-end S/4HANA Finance implementation.
• Knowledge of Event-Based Revenue Recognition (EBRR) and/or SAP Revenue Accounting and Reporting (RAR).
• Understanding of manufacturing financial processes such as:
  • Make-to-Stock (MTS)
  • Make-to-Order (MTO)
  • Configure-to-Order (CTO)
  • Engineer-to-Order (ETO)
• Experience with SAP Project Systems (PS) integration.
