SUMMARY
The Functional Analyst & Quality Lead supports the analysis, improvement, and quality of the company’s core insurance systems and business processes, with a primary focus on Insuresoft applications. This role serves as a functional subject matter resource, working closely with Business Operations, Underwriting, Claims, Billing, IT, and other departments to evaluate business needs, define system requirements, improve processes, and ensure system changes meet business requirements.
The position also plays a key role in functional testing, user acceptance testing, defect identification, and implementation support. The ideal candidate combines strong analytical and problem-solving skills with hands‑on Insuresoft experience, a solid understanding of P&C insurance operations, and the ability to lead projects and cross‑functional initiatives.
This position offers an opportunity to progressively expand responsibilities through project leadership, mentoring, testing coordination, and increased involvement in business and operational strategy, with potential for future people‑management responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as a functional subject matter resource for Insuresoft applications, supporting policy, claims, and/or billing functions.
- Analyze business needs, operational challenges, and system functionality to identify opportunities for process and system improvements.
- Gather, document, and evaluate business and functional requirements in collaboration with Underwriting, Claims, Billing, IT, and other stakeholders.
- Translate business needs into clear, actionable requirements and supporting documentation, including business requirements, use cases, workflows, and process documentation.
- Analyze application requirements and system changes to identify functional impacts and define testing needs.
- Lead functional testing efforts for Insuresoft system changes, upgrades, and enhancements, including developing test plans, coordinating testing activities, and executing tests as needed.
- Coordinate and support user acceptance testing (UAT), ensuring testing activities are organized, documented, and aligned with business requirements.
- Review testing results, identify defects or gaps, and work with appropriate stakeholders to determine solutions and priorities.
- Develop and maintain automated test scripts using the company’s in-house testing tools, as applicable.
- Identify defects, data inconsistencies, process gaps, and system issues across applications; recommend and help prioritize solutions.
- Participate in cross-functional meetings to analyze, review, and demonstrate new or modified systems, functionality, and processes.
- Coordinate user training and provide functional support during system implementations, enhancements, and process changes.
- Prepare reports, analysis, and recommendations regarding system and process issues, trends, and improvement opportunities for leadership review.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of Business Operations standards, procedures, documentation, and best practices.
- Lead or coordinate assigned projects and cross-functional initiatives, ensuring appropriate communication, documentation, and follow-through.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior team members or other employees as responsibilities expand.
- Take on progressively greater responsibility for testing coordination, project leadership, process improvement, and business operations initiatives, with potential for future people‑management responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS — EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in an auto or P&C insurance environment.
- Hands‑on experience with Insuresoft applications required, including experience with one or more of the following: policy administration, claims, or billing.
- Prior supervisory, team lead, project leadership, or project coordination experience preferred.
- Experience leading initiatives, coordinating cross‑functional work, mentoring others, or directing work without direct supervisory authority preferred.
- Experience with software testing, user acceptance testing (UAT), or quality assurance processes preferred.
- Working knowledge of software development life cycle (SDLC) methodologies, including Agile/Scrum and/or Waterfall.
- Familiarity with ticket‑tracking and project management tools such as Jira or Azure DevOps preferred.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with both technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to lead projects, coordinate cross‑functional initiatives, and influence others without direct authority.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, and deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
