Job summary

B Consulting is seeking an HR Operations Manager to own day-to-day relationships for a portfolio of startups, acting as the primary HR partner for clients. You will lead a distributed team across onboarding, payroll support, and policy management, guiding decisions on California, New York, and other states.

This fully remote role offers high impact across multiple companies and scenarios. You will report to the HR Director, supervise HR Generalists and Philippines-based Specialists, and ensure

Qualifications

• 6+ years in HR operations, compliance, or senior generalist role
• Client-facing or multi-entity experience such as consulting, outsourced HR, PEO, or multi-entity corporate role
• Demonstrated multi-state compliance ownership, including California
• Experience conducting workplace investigations and documenting them
• Hands-on background across payroll, onboarding, benefits, PEO, HRIS
• Ability to run a client call solo and hold the room
• SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification
• Strong professional judgment and decision-making abilities

Responsibilities

• Lead a distributed HR team and set priorities
• Manage client relationships and lead recurring client calls
• Oversee compliance across states and international contractors/EOR
• Review payroll output, handbooks, filings, and agreements
• Draft and approve complex employment documents when needed
• Coach team members and drive process improvements
• Translate risk into actionable decisions for founders
