Job Description

As an Embedded Software Engineer, you will be responsible for analyzing and improving the safety and functionality of steering and braking systems in agricultural machinery. This role involves working with the latest technologies to enhance system safety and software architecture.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze current system safety requirements and system architecture of steering and braking systems for agricultural machinery.
  • Examine current software requirements, software architecture documents, and C++ based embedded source code.
  • Create software safety requirements and architecture documentation based on reverse engineered source code.
  • Identify gaps in software traceability between requirements, design, code, and verification & validation according to the ISO 26262:2018 standard.
  • Suggest software design improvements based on functional safety requirements and risk assessment.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
  • Knowledge of section 6 of the ISO 26262 standard.
  • Hands-on experience in the design and development of software in C++ for embedded systems in off-highway heavy machinery or automotive.
  • Experience analyzing risk assessments, safety requirements, and system architecture.
  • Experience in creating software safety requirement specifications, architecture design documentation, and traceability concepts.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience designing control software for a distributed network for CAN or Ethernet communication.
  • Knowledge of the ISO standard for agricultural machinery.
  • Certified Functional Safety Engineer.

Work Environment

This is a long-term role offering standard benefits, holidays, and paid time off. The work environment is based in an Iowa facility, with a preference for candidates who can work in a similar time zone and adhere to CST core hours.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $70.00/hr.
