Job summary

GovCIO is seeking a Data Engineer to design and build enriched datasets using medallion architecture (bronze/silver/gold) in Databricks, sourcing data from VA CDW and other systems. This fully remote role collaborates with stakeholders to deliver analytics-ready data pipelines and Power BI models.

You will write SQL, manage Databricks jobs, and track work in JIRA, ensuring data quality, lineage, and documentation across projects for VA health analytics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 12+ years of experience or commensurate experience.
• Hands-on Databricks experience with PySpark and SQL.
• Strong SQL skills and data modeling for healthcare data.
• Experience with Power BI semantic models.
• Experience using GitHub for version control and code reviews.
• Familiarity with JIRA for tracking work.
• Strong client/stakeholder communication skills.
• Understanding of medallion (bronze/silver/gold) data architecture

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain datasets using medallion architecture in Databricks.
• Develop, orchestrate, and monitor Databricks jobs and pipelines.
• Write SQL to transform and model healthcare data.
• Prepare data for Power BI semantic models.
• Collaborate with clients and stakeholders to gather requirements.
• Log work items in JIRA and track progress.
• Ensure data quality and lineage documentation.
