Job summary

In this fully remote role, you’ll join a team supporting VA healthcare data, ensuring quality, lineage, and clear data definitions throughout pipelines, with a focus on reliability and stakeholder satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 12+ years of experience (or commensurate).
• Hands-on experience building data pipelines in Databricks (PySpark and/or SQL).
• Strong SQL skills with complex joins, aggregations, and performance tuning.
• Experience with Power BI semantic models and data preparation.
• Familiarity with GitHub for version control and code review.
• Experience using JIRA to track and manage work.
• Strong communication skills for client/stakeholder engagement.
• Understanding of medallion (bronze/silver/gold) data architecture.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain enriched datasets following medallion architecture in Databricks.
• Develop, orchestrate, and monitor Databricks jobs and pipelines.
• Write efficient, well-structured SQL to transform healthcare data.
• Prepare gold-layer datasets for Power BI semantic models.
• Manage code and version control through GitHub with team reviews.
• Log, track, and update work items in JIRA.
• Partner with clients to understand requirements and validate outputs.
• Troubleshoot data quality issues and ensure accuracy across pipelines.
• Write ad hoc queries for client requests and analyses.
• Document data lineage, transformations, and business rules.
