Job summary

CareMed is seeking a Wound NP to deliver comprehensive wound care to residents in long-term care facilities. The role requires prescribing medications, including controlled substances, and coordinating treatments with facility staff.

Ideal candidates hold an AR NP license with board certification, and have experience with wound care in geriatric populations, EMR systems, and interdisciplinary team collaboration. This is a full-time position with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

  • Current, unrestricted NP license in AR.
  • Board Certification is required.
  • DEA licensure is optional.
  • Clinical background in wound care for adults, family, or geriatric populations.
  • Experience with chronic, infected, or complex wounds.
  • Ability to diagnose and treat diabetic, arterial, venous, or mixed wounds.
  • Familiar with staging pressure injuries per NPIAP.
  • Knowledge of advanced wound care products and wound VACs.
  • Experience using EMR and coordinating with an interdisciplinary team.
  • Strong communication with nursing home staff.

We are currently seeking Wound Care Nurse Practitioners to provide wound services to patients living in long-term care facilities.

WOUND NP ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide wound care services for long-term care patients residing in skilled nursing facilities.
  • Prescribe appropriate medications, including controlled substances in accordance with AR Law.
  • Order, review, and/or follow-up with treatments and diagnostic testing.
  • Communicate with the nursing home staff on a regular and as needed to discuss changes in condition.
  • and/or the care plan.
  • Collaborate with the primary care physician.
WOUND NP QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
  • Current, unrestricted NP license in the state of AR.
  • Board Certification.
  • DEA licensure (Optional)
  • Clinical background in adult, family, or geriatric specialties.
  • Clinical background of wound care; including but not limited to chronic, debilitating, stalled, or infected wounds
  • Must be comfortable with diagnosing and treating diabetic, arterial, venous, and mixed etiology wounds or Kennedy Ulcers.
  • Must be comfortable staging pressure injuries according to the NPIAP
  • Must be familiar with wound care best practice and advanced wound care products; collagens, alginates, foams, silvers, etc.
  • Must have experience with wound vacs and other DME, such as pressure relieving/ reducing devices
  • Strong preference to having wound certification or be open to getting certified
  • Experience working in a long-term care setting.
  • Ability to work with an EMR.
  • Ability to work within an interdisciplinary care team to coordinate patient care.
