BluePearl Pet Hospital in Grand Rapids, MI is seeking a Neurology Veterinary Technician to support advanced neurological care. You will train for MRI/CT, assist in neurosurgeries, and manage anesthesia with care.

Qualifications

• Must be a certified veterinary technician with strong anesthesia skills.
• Experience working in a neurology or emergency setting is preferred.
• Ability to educate clients and discharge neuro patients with proper instructions.

Responsibilities

• Set up and be trained for MRI and CT procedures.
• Assist in the OR during neurosurgeries.
• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia; proficiency required.
• Perform medical math calculations (mcg/mg, %/mg, etc.).
• Discharge neuro patients with client education and home care guidance.
• Take histories and provide patient education to clients.
• Perform IVC placement and venipuncture.
• Operate IV fluid pumps and troubleshoot errors.
• Restrain patients during consults and diagnostics.

As a Neurology Veterinary Technician, you will:

• Set up and become trained for MRI and CT procedures.
• Spend time in the OR during neurosurgeries.
• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia - being proficient in anesthesia is a must!
• Calculates all medical math including advanced and CRI (mcg/mg, %/mg, etc ).
• Discharge neuro patients from the hospital, including basic client education such as manual bladder expression, sling walking, range of motion, etc.. Provide nursing care to stable patients according to hospital standards of care and core values .
• Obtain histories and provide client education.
• Perform IVC placement and venipuncture.
• O perate all brands of intravenous fluid pumps and can troubleshoot errors.
• R estrain patients during consults and during diagnostics.
