Job summary

Black Hawk College in Illinois is seeking a Nursing Faculty member to provide classroom, lab, clinical, and other instruction for the Nursing department. The candidate will develop syllabi, deliver lectures and activities, and implement methods to evaluate student performance while maintaining necessary instructional materials and equipment.

This 9-month academic-year appointment starts with a minimum salary of $50,036; additional duties outside the contract period are paid separately.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in nursing
• Active Illinois registered nurse license
• One year of clinical practice as a registered nurse within the past three years
• Demonstrate English proficiency for classroom instruction
• One year of prior teaching experience
• Eligibility for, or active Iowa registered nurse license

Responsibilities

• Provide classroom, lab, clinical, and/or other instruction as required for the Nursing department.
• Develop syllabi, lectures, discussions, and activities to enhance the students’ educational experience.
• Evaluate student performance and provide timely feedback.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Faculty member will provide appropriate classroom, lab, clinical, and/or other instruction as required for assigned department. Faculty memberis expected to encourage learning by preparing appropriate syllabi; by developing lectures, discussions, and other presentations or activities to enhance the students’ educational experience; develops and executes appropriate methods of evaluating students’ performance;develops, secures, and maintains the equipment and other instructional materials essential to the presentation of the classroom material.

• Compensation is based on teaching and practical experience with minimum $50,036 for a 9-month academic-year appointment. Please note this is the salary for the contracted 9-month work period and should not be interpreted as a 12-month annual salary. Additional assignments outside the contract period, including summer teaching or other approved duties, are compensated separately at applicable rates.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Required:

• Bachelor's degree in nursing.
• Active Illinois registered nurse license.
• One year of clinical practice as a registered nurse within the past three years.
• Demonstrate English proficiency for classroom instruction.

Preferred:

• One year of prior teaching experience.
