Job summary

Black Hawk College seeks an adjunct nursing faculty member to provide classroom, lab, and clinical instruction in the assigned department. The candidate will develop syllabi, prepare lectures, lead discussions, and create assessments to measure student learning while maintaining equipment and instructional materials.

Must hold an active Illinois nursing license with RN credentials, have English proficiency for teaching, and either teaching experience or IDPH training.

Qualifications

• Registered nurse with active licensure in Illinois.
• Must demonstrate English proficiency for classroom instruction.
• Teaching experience or completion of Illinois Department of Public Health training prior to employment.
• Approval by IDPH for theory, clinical, and Alzheimer's content.

Job description

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Faculty member will provide appropriate classroom, lab, clinical, and/or other instruction as required for assigned department. Faculty memberis expected to encourage learning by preparing appropriate syllabi; by developing lectures, discussions, and other presentations or activities to enhance the students’ educational experience; develops and executes appropriate methods of evaluating students’ performance;develops, secures, and maintains the equipment and other instructional materials essential to the presentation of the classroom material.

*Compensation: Pay is commensurate with education and experience.

Minimum starting pay for adjunct faculty (as of Fall 2026)

• Less Than a Master's Degree = $739.16 per equated hour
• Master's Degree = $862.35 per equated hour
• Doctorate = $923.95 per equated hour

Required:

• Registered nurse
• Active Illinois nursing license
• One year of clinical experience in long-term care nursing, or acute care nursing.
• Demonstrate English proficiency for classroom instruction.
• Prior teaching experience or completion of Illinois Department of Public Health training program prior to employment.
• Approval by the Illinois Department of Public Health for theory instruction, clinical instruction, and Alzheimer's content.
