Job summary

Citizens Health is seeking a surgical nurse to join our full-time staff in the surgery department at Citizens Medical Center in Colby, Kansas. The RN will report to the Surgery Manager and support pre-operative through post-anesthesia care, while maintaining sterile fields and assisting with operations.

Hours are Monday–Friday, 10 AM to 6 PM, with one weekend call per month and one major and one minor holiday call per year.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and current licensure by the Kansas Board of Nursing.
• ACLS and BLS certifications required.
• Provides pre-operative, peri-operative and post anesthesia care as needed per unit protocol.

Responsibilities

• Obtain supplies needed for day’s surgeries and prepare operating rooms as assigned.
• Create and maintain sterile fields; scrub and assist with surgical procedure by passing instruments and specific equipment; take counts according to standard policy.
• Take surgery call which is assigned on a rotating basis and is mandatory.
• Assist in cleaning instruments/equipment, checking and stocking supplies.
• Complete other duties as assigned.
