Job summary

ECS4Kids (formerly Episcopal Children’s Services) seeks a Special Needs Assistant to provide individualized classroom support for children with special needs in Florida. You will help children participate in activities, apply supportive strategies, and maintain a safe, nurturing environment.

Responsibilities include assisting teachers, documenting progress, and collaborating with staff to support social-emotional and developmental goals.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of child growth and development and developmentally appropriate practices.
• Understanding effects of trauma on children's development.
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized support to assigned children to participate in activities.
• Apply CLASS-focused strategies in Emotional Support, Classroom Organization, and Instructional Support.
• Assist Teacher by keeping children engaged during group activities.
• Interact with children to extend play and learning opportunities.
• Assist in assessments and documentation for assigned children.
• Maintain a warm, nurturing environment and follow ECS Discipline policy.
