Job summary

ECS4Kids in Florida seeks a Special Needs Assistant to provide individualized classroom support for children with special needs and challenging behaviors. You will implement developmentally appropriate activities and help children participate in daily routines.

Requirements include a High School Diploma or GED with a CDA or FCCPC; an associate degree is preferred and experience in early childhood education is highly valued. Travel among centers may be needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED and a CDA credential or FCCPC required*
• Associate degree in child development, special education, early childhood education or related field preferred
• Two years relevant training and ECE classroom experience can be substituted for minimum qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized support to assigned children to help them participate in classroom activities
• Use CLASS philosophy in Emotional Support, Classroom Organization, and Instructional Support
• Assist in keeping children engaged during large group activities
• Interact with children to extend play and learning
• Assist in assessments and documentation for assigned children
• Maintain warm, nurturing environment and uphold ECS policies
• Develop nurturing relationships to support social and emotional development
• Maintain records and confidentiality

Education

Associate degree in child development, special education, early childhood education or related field

CDA credential or FCCPC credential
