Job summary

Pillar Care Continuum is seeking a dedicated Teacher Assistant at Pillar Elementary School in Livingston, NJ. The role supports the Teacher of the Handicapped and delivers individualized instructional and therapeutic assistance to students with disabilities.

The position runs Monday–Friday 8:15 am–3:15 pm for 12 months with paid recess and personal time. A high school diploma is required; substitute certification eligibility is noted.

Qualifications

• Experience with children with disabilities preferred.
• Ability to support daily living skills.
• Ability to collaborate with teachers and therapists.

Responsibilities

• Assist in instruction, routines, and therapy groups.
• Support daily living skills and promote independence.
• Adapt materials to student needs and learning programs.
• Follow teacher directions to implement lesson plans.
• Apply behavior management per school guidelines.
• Assist during bus arrival/departure for safety.
• Implement therapist recommendations and goals.
• Maintain a professional classroom environment as a role model.
• Attend meetings and professional development; perform related duties.
