Job summary

Cumberland County Schools seeks a 26/27 EC Assistant for the Serious Emotional Disability program at Mary McArthur Elementary in Fayetteville, NC. This non-exempt paraprofessional role supports an exceptional children’s program, assists with instructional activities, and helps maintain a safe, orderly classroom.

Starting immediately, candidates must have 24 college hours, pass Work Keys, and demonstrate effective methods for working with children.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 24 semester hours completed in any discipline with passing Work Keys Assessments.
• Working knowledge of effective methods of dealing with children.
• Ability to solve minor problems and follow detailed written and oral instructions.

Responsibilities

• Assists the teacher with planning, organizing, and evaluating instructional activities; developing classroom procedures; preparing necessary materials; and presenting instructional activities as directed by the teacher.
• Participates in activities to improve the total school program.
• Assists the teacher in ensuring a safe and healthful environment.
• Demonstrates clerical and technical skills necessary to assist the implementation of the program.
• Assists students with the understanding of rules and regulations.
• Assists in maintaining cleanliness and neatness.
• Conducts self as a positive role model.
• Performs other duties and accepts responsibilities as assigned.
• Serves as team player and role model for other employees in the organization; demonstrates a commitment to continuous quality improvement; supports and exhibits organizational core values of caring, respect, integrity, responsibility, high expectations, being customer driven, and valuing fairness.
