Job summary

Compass Group's Culinaire at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) in Newark, NJ, is seeking a full-time Sous Chef. The position offers a 40-hour work week with hours that may vary, and pays $35.00 per hour.

Previous culinary experience is preferred and essential duties include guiding cooks, ensuring production deadlines, and maintaining food safety standards. Responsibilities include supervising hourly staff, managing kitchen operations, and ensuring proper food handling, presentation

• Previous culinary experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Cooks and prepares food following approved recipes and production standards.
• Supervises hourly food service associates including interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training, counseling and performance reviews.
• Stores food in designated areas following all safety procedures.
• Ensures proper food handling, presentation, portion control and serving temperatures.
• Maintains sanitation of equipment, supplies and workstation; keeps displays clean during service.
• Interacts with customers to resolve complaints in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
• Explains daily menu items to associates and customers.
• Keeps up with peak production and service hours.
• Monitors inventory and deliveries; reports low supplies.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
