Job summary

UPMC Bedford is seeking a full-time Sonographer to join the radiology team. The role requires ability to work all three shifts, including weekend and holiday rotations, with on-call as needed.

A $6,000 sign-on bonus is offered with a 2-year commitment. Completion of a CAAHEP-accredited ultrasound program and RDMS/RVT/ARRT(S) credentials or eligibility are required, with a 12-month timeline to obtain credentials.

Qualifications

• CAAHEP-accredited ultrasound program completion is required.
• RDMS, RVT or ARRT (S) registration or eligibility preferred.
• Must obtain RDMS, RVT or ARRT (S) within 12 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assists physicians with invasive procedures and adheres to universal protocol standards.
• Ensures exams are coded and tracked in RIS and networked to ISITE for archiving and interpretation; proper charges entered.
• May be responsible for High Level Disinfection of devices, supplies and/or equipment.
• Communicates clearly with patients, explains procedures, and helps alleviate fears to gain cooperation.
• Properly identifies patients using two identifiers and applies departmental protocols for optimal results.
• Performs ultrasound procedures, correlating history, labs and findings to assist in diagnosis under physician supervision.
• Interacts with patients and staff with care, listening, dignity and respect; works as a team.
• Operates ultrasound equipment and completes procedures per protocol.
• Obtains image documentation and correlates measurements with data programs.
• Documents patient history in electronic records as required.
• Completes CAAHEP-accredited training requirement.
