Job summary

Heritage Pointe of Huntington is seeking a full-time cook to prepare meals for residents in accordance with menus, dietary requirements, and safety standards. The role requires flexible hours, including holidays and every other weekend, and a commitment to resident-centered service.

The position emphasizes following recipes and menus, maintaining a clean kitchen, and working with dietary and nursing staff to meet resident needs while ensuring compliance with state and federal food service

Qualifications

• Previous cooking experience required; long-term care or healthcare experience preferred.
• Familiarity with state and federal regulations related to food service in a long-term care setting preferred.
• Experience in regulated healthcare environments and familiarity with regulatory survey expectations preferred.
• Ability to follow recipes, menus, dietary instructions, and food safety standards.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Must demonstrate dependable attendance and a commitment to resident-centered service.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meals according to menus, recipes, and resident dietary needs.
• Follow proper food handling, sanitation, and infection-control procedures.
• Ensure food is prepared and served at the proper temperature and on schedule.
• Assist with meal preparation, portioning, serving, and special diet requests.
• Maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized kitchen and work area.
• Properly store food and monitor food quality and expiration dates.
• Follow all facility policies, procedures, and applicable health regulations.
• Work cooperatively with dietary and nursing staff to meet resident needs.
• Maintain awareness of applicable state regulations and long-term care food service requirements.
• Maintain kitchen and food service practices to support regulatory readiness.
