Job summary

Woodlands Retirement Community in Huntington, WV seeks a Full-time Food Service Cook in the Dietary department to prepare appetizing, nutritious meals for residents, guests and staff. The cook will follow established procedures, manage ingredients and ensure sanitation and safety during food preparation.

You will work closely with dietary aides and supervisors, maintain high quality, and support meal service with timely, considerate care. Prior experience in food service and teamwork are valued.

Qualifications

• Must have knowledge of elementary math (e.g. counting trays).
• Follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Must be able to use tools and equipment required.
• Must be able to prepare palatable foods that are appetizing in appearance.
• Maintain confidentiality of all resident care information.
• Must have knowledge of sanitation and safe food handling.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food using established procedures and systems.
• Determine amount and type of food and supplies needed.
• Ensure supplies are available for meals and substitutions.
• Comply with sanitation and hygiene standards during prep.
• Store food properly with dates and labels.
• Report equipment repairs to supervisor.
• Prepare meals according to standard recipes and diet orders.
• Coordinate food production with meal serving times to maintain quality.
