Job summary

Salisbury Township School District invites applications for a full-time Utility Maintenance position. The role supports the Director of Facilities in keeping classrooms and grounds safe, clean and well-maintained for students and staff.

You will perform custodial tasks, operate HVAC, and assist with events and grounds care. Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, a valid driver's license, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team in a school environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum of high school diploma desired.
• Must have a valid drivers license.
• Thorough knowledge, understanding and use of custodial procedures, equipment, and cleaning materials.
• Basic knowledge of the principles of heating, ventilation, sanitation, and maintenance of school plant.
• Maturity and ability to deal with others including staff, vendors and the public.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.

Responsibilities

• Keep buildings and premises neat and clean at all times.
• Regulate HVAC systems to provide appropriate temperatures and economical utilities usage.
• Shovel and plow walks, driveways, and parking areas.
• Check exit doors and panic bars during hours of occupancy.
• Perform custodial duties such as sweeping, dusting, mopping and vacuuming.
• Wax and buff floors as required.
• Maintain cleanliness of toilets and drinking fountains.
• Replenish soap dispensers and paper products.
• Clean chalkboards and erasers as needed.
• Empty garbage and recyclables daily.
• Assist in setup for school events and assist cafeteria staff as needed.
• Maintain grounds by mowing, weeding, and trash removal.
• Perform minor building repairs and report major ones.
• Paint as required and operate grounds equipment for snow removal.
• Cross-train on all aspects of school buildings and mechanical equipment.
