Job summary

Capital Area Intermediate Unit (CAIU) is seeking a full-time Occupational Therapist for Carroll Elementary in SHERMANSDALE, PA. The role focuses on evaluating motor function, planning IEP-based interventions, and coordinating with educators, parents, and providers.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree required
• Valid PA Occupational Therapy License.
• Knowledge of special education practices as related to Occupational Therapy.
• Full certification in Safe Crisis Management (SCM), Safety Care, or other restraint management system as required by the assignment.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual evaluation for children with sensorimotor, self-help, and behavior needs according to accepted standardized and non-standardized assessment tools.
• Participate in the multidisciplinary evaluation /re-evaluation process.
• Assist in the development of goals, objectives, and recommendations as a part of the IEP or other service plan.
• Provide individual or classroom monitoring services to children and teachers; individual consultation for children with specific functional issues; treatment for children who qualify for service within CAIU programs.
• Meet with the Supervisor on a regular basis to review occupational therapy services.
• Complete required records and reports to CAIU standards and within stated timelines; adhere to the standards of practice and ethical conduct of the occupational therapy profession.
• Direct the activities of the Occupational Therapy Assistant, if assigned.
• Provide fieldwork education/supervision for occupational therapy students performing fieldwork internships within the CAIU.
