Job summary

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or related field preferred.
• 2+ years of experience in a purchasing position or equivalent.
• Knowledge of purchasing functions, inventory, and supply management systems.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and strong organizational skills.
• Experience with spreadsheet applications and purchasing software.

Responsibilities

• Partner with the purchasing manager to run the purchasing department.
• Research and select vendors to improve profitability and reduce costs.
• Maintain cordial vendor relationships and supervise vendor activities.
• Review purchasing agreements with vendors and renegotiate contracts as needed.
• Use data to determine purchasing needs and manage inventory levels.
• Oversee purchase orders, shipping schedules and records.
• Coordinate with warehouse staff to verify deliveries against purchase orders.
• Identify beneficial purchase agreements through market research.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
