Job summary

St. Alphonsus School in Seattle seeks a caring Full-Time Preschool & Extended Care Assistant to support our licensed preschool for ages 2.5 to 5. You will work 9:30am-6pm, Monday-Friday, when school is in session, in a faith-based community.

Responsibilities include assisting lead teacher with activities, supervising children, maintaining a safe and organized classroom, supporting basic needs, and collaborating with staff to provide a nurturing learning environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; degree in Early Childhood Education preferred.
• Experience working with young children in a school, daycare, or similar setting preferred.
• Must pass background check and Archdiocese Safe Environment requirements.
• Must have or be able to obtain First Aid/CPR certificate, TB test, food handler’s permit, and DCYF MERIT account.

Responsibilities

• Assist the lead preschool teacher with age-appropriate activities.
• Supervise and engage children during playtime and circle time.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment.
• Support children with basic needs (handwashing, snack, restroom).
• Encourage positive behavior and model respectful interactions.
• Assist with classroom setup, transitions, and end‑of‑day cleanup.
• Collaborate with preschool teacher and staff to provide nurturing and structured learning.
• Adhere to health and safety policies.
