Job summary

YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago is seeking a Head Start Pre-K Assistant Teacher to support instructional strategies and classroom management for children aged 3-5. The role involves creating developmentally appropriate learning experiences, supervising children, and fostering a positive classroom climate in compliance with Head Start and local standards.

This full-time position starts at $21.04 per hour and includes competitive benefits with opportunities for professional development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Early Education or Gateways Level 4 Credential or AA Degree with Gateways Level 4 Credential.
• Must pass DCFS background check and maintain clearance throughout employment.
• Passion for YMCA mission and serving the needs of children and families.
• Demonstrated knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices to promote early learning.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate enthusiasm and interpersonal skills with children, parents, staff and community.
• Support high-quality teaching and learning to promote academic readiness.
• Supervise children and maintain health and safety at all times.
• Assist with English Language Learner programs and culturally responsive practices.
• Collaborate to develop lesson plans with goals, activities and outcomes for children.
• Maintain documentation of each child’s progress according to Head Start guidelines.

Education
