The City of South Daytona Police Department is seeking a Police Officer (Full-Time) to perform a wide range of law enforcement duties, including responding to emergencies and enforcing laws to protect public safety. Sponsorship opportunities may be offered for highly qualified non-certified applicants.

Requires a High School Diploma or GED, a valid Florida driver's license, FCIC certification within 90 days, and BLE Academy certification.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required with ability to perform essential duties.
• Minimum of one year general law enforcement or equivalent public contact experience.
• Must have a valid Florida driver's license; FCIC certification within 90 days; BLE Academy certification possible.

Responsabilités

• Respond to priority calls, manage incidents on site, provide emergency medical assistance, and direct traffic.
• Detect and prevent criminal activity through surveillance of assigned areas and engage with businesses and residents.
• Secure crime scenes, assist investigations, collect evidence and take witness statements.
• Enforce traffic laws and vehicle codes, promote road safety, and issue arrests as needed.
• Prepare daily and incident reports, maintain logs, and complete required dispositions.
• Provide police services including transporting prisoners, assisting motorists, and community outreach.
• Follow up on reported crime to reduce future occurrences.
• Perform monthly checks on sex offenders and predators within the city.
