Job summary

Ashland University Bookstore is seeking a grill service supervisor to lead the lunch and dinner line, mentor student workers, and ensure daily operations run smoothly.

You will manage prep, station setup, inventory, and promotional efforts for campus events, while delivering friendly service in a fast-paced setting.

Ideal candidates bring leadership, reliability, and a positive attitude to support student staff and guests.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
• Basic understanding of inventory and stock management.
• Good communication skills and a positive attitude.
• Authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Prepare orders from in-house and Grubhub during lunch/dinner service 3:30 pm–12:00 am Mon–Thu and 10:30 am–7:00 pm Fri.
• Set up station for the day and prep items needed for service.
• Maintain a clean, organized station during service.
• Oversee and mentor student employees, providing training and guidance.
• Assist in scheduling shifts for student workers.
• Monitor performance and provide feedback to uphold high service standards.
• Assist in monthly inventory counting and monitor stock rotation/expiration.
• Collaborate with management to promote grill events, specials, and new menu items.
• Assist in creating/promoting promotional material and engage with customers.

• Maintain a clean and organized station throughout service.
• Oversee and mentor student employees providing training and guidance.
• Assist is scheduling shift for student workers.
• Monitor student performance and provide feedback to ensure high standards of service.
• Assist in monthly Inventory counting and monitor stock rotation and expiration to minimize waste.
• Collaborate with management to promote grill events, specials, and new menu items.
• Assist in creating and distributing promotional material, engaging with customers and gathering feedback.

Required Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
• Basic understanding of inventory and stock management.
• Good communication skills and a positive attitude.
• Applicant must be currently authorized to work in the United States. Ashland University will not sponsor or take over sponsorship for an employment visa.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous grill cook experience preferred.
• Food Safety certified.
• Previous work in a high volume environment.

Physical Demands

• Area can be hot and fast paced.
• Bending, twisting, and standing for long periods.
• Ability to lift 30 lbs. or more.
