Qualifications

• Current and valid state RN License.
• Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
• Current ACLS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
• Current PALS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
• Minimum of one year previous Perioperative experience or on the job training
• Certified Nurse OR (CNOR) Certification (AORN) preferred
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.

Responsibilities

• The Registered Nurse Preceptor functions as a teacher and mentor in guiding, directing and supervising technical nursing activities of the nurse preceptee.
• Provides guidance and consultation regarding effective patient care and scope of practice.
• Creates formal and informal learning opportunities for peers regarding practice issues, technology and/or current research.
• Oversees the preceptee in the delivery of safe patient care utilizing the nursing process.
• Directs and guides patient/family teaching and activities of other nursing personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing.
• Provides direct patient care within OR setting and responds quickly to changes in condition.
