Job summary

Phoenix Children's Hospital, Inc. seeks a Full-Time unit-based patient care assistant in the Emergency Department to support the care team with vital data collection, basic patient care, and coordination of admissions and lab work.

Under supervision, you will help implement portions of the care plan and ensure accurate documentation. The role requires high school completion, patient care experience (preferred), and relevant certifications (LNA/CNA, EMT/Paramedic or RN clinical skills).

Qualifications

• Completion of high school diploma or equivalent.
• Patient care experience (preferred).
• Current LNA/CNA or AZ EMT/Paramedic certification OR completed clinical nursing skills portion of a nursing program (RN within 2 years of hire).
• Current BLS certification for Healthcare Provider prior to start date.

Responsibilities

• Collect and record routine patient data to ensure accuracy of patient charts.
• Assist in applying splints, casts, and other orthopedic devices; perform CPR during cardiac arrest management.
• Assemble patient charts for new admissions and enter admission orders and demographic data.
• Identify and report unusual findings or observations to healthcare professional for intervention.
• Maintain inventory levels of stock items, supplies, and equipment.
• Obtain blood specimens by physician order or per protocol; assist in delivering lab specimens.
• Participate in in-service programs, meetings, and daily care rounds.
• Maintain the unit's environment and provide orientation to patients and family.
• Perform miscellaneous job related duties as requested.
