• Reporting equipment malfunctions
• Effective communication with departments
• Maintaining professional relationships
• Responding to call lights, passing meals, transporting patients
• Receiving feedback and identifying learning needs
• Participating in self-review and performance improvement
• Communicating clearly with the healthcare team
• Supporting safety and cultural diversity
• Providing patient care and assisting with procedures and activities of daily living
• Supporting therapies and reporting patient status changes
• Providing patient and family instruction
• Applying and removing restraints as needed
• Adhering to policies, safety protocols, and documentation standards
• Completing clerical and other assigned duties

Minimum Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• One year of experience or enrollment in a healthcare training program with clinical rotation, or completion of a health sciences bachelor's degree
• Successful completion of UPMC patient care technician class and basic information system training
• Effective communication skills

Licensure and Certifications:

• Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR
• CPR certification within 30 days of hire
• Act 34 Criminal Clearance
