Job summary

UF Health in Gainesville is seeking a Patient Care Assistant to work full-time (36 hours/week) from 7:00am to 7:30pm. The PCA assists the Registered Nurse with routine procedures and provides nursing support to promote patient advocacy and high-quality care.

Qualified candidates may include Licensed EMTs, Paramedics, CNAs with high school diploma and experience, or nursing students in approved programs. Certification as CNA/EMT/Paramedic is preferred for non-students.

Qualifications

• CNA or related credential required; nursing program students may qualify.
• Certification in CNA/EMT/Paramedic preferred depending on role.
• NCLEX status acceptable for recent graduates awaiting testing.

Responsibilities

• The PCA assists the Registered Nurse with routine procedures under supervision.
• Provides nursing support to help deliver patient care and advocate for patients.

Education

Licensed EMT or Paramedic

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) with high school diploma or equivalent with one year of patient care experience

Nursing student currently enrolled in approved program for nursing fundamentals

NCLEX-eligible or awaiting authorization (up to 90 days post-graduation)

NCLEX-exam unsuccessful (up to 6 months post initial authorization)

CNA training program for CNAs (HS students) with instructor recommendation
