Hardware Sales Inc is seeking a motivated Paint Department Associate to help customers select paints, stains, coatings, brushes, and related supplies. You will provide product knowledge and personalized service to DIYers and contractors, ensuring accurate color matching and safe handling of materials.

The role requires a high school diploma, excellent communication, and the ability to upsell complementary items.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in a hardware store preferred.
• Knowledge of paint and paint accessories and their applications is highly desired.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-focused attitude.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a retail environment.
• Attention to detail and good organizational skills.
• Basic math skills for inventory management, measurements, and sales.

Responsibilities

• Greet and assist customers in selecting paint products, finishes, and tools for their specific needs.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of paint lines, color matching systems, surface preparation, application tools, and safety considerations.
• Offer product recommendations based on project needs, upsell brushes, tape, drop cloths, and primers.
• Operate and maintain tinting and color matching equipment with accuracy.
• Keep shelves stocked and displays attractive; assist with restocking and inventory rotation.
• Handle returns, exchanges, and inquiries with a professional attitude.
• Follow safety protocols around paints, solvents, and flammables.
• Collaborate with team and other departments to ensure a smooth, customer-first experience.
