Hardware Sales is looking for a motivated Paint Department associate to help customers navigate our wide selection of paints, stains, coatings, brushes, and related supplies in Bellingham, WA. You will combine product knowledge with personalized service to assist both DIYers and professionals.

The role emphasizes accuracy in color matching, safe handling of materials, and teamwork to maintain organized displays and efficient store operations. Eligible candidates enjoy a stable full-time schedule.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in a hardware store preferred.
• Knowledge of paint and paint accessories and their applications.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-focused attitude.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a retail environment.
• Attention to detail and good organizational skills.
• Basic math skills for inventory management, measurements, and sales.

Responsibilities

• Greet and assist customers in selecting paint products, finishes, and tools for their needs.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of paint lines, color matching, surface prep, and tools.
• Offer product recommendations and upsell related items to improve outcomes.
• Operate tinting and color matching equipment with accuracy.
• Keep shelves stocked, report low inventory, and assist with restocking.
• Set up and maintain visually appealing displays of paint products and accessories.
• Handle returns, exchanges, and inquiries professionally.
• Follow safety protocols around hazardous materials like paints and solvents.
• Collaborate with team and other departments for a smooth customer experience.
• Use store computer systems for product research, inventory updates, and orders.
