Job summary

Remedies Renewing Lives in Rockford, IL is seeking a Registered Nurse for a full-time outpatient substance abuse program. You will order, dispense and monitor Methadone and Suboxone, providing professional nursing care to clients under supervision of an Advanced Practice Nurse.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of professional nursing theory and practice.
• Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergencies.
• Ability to learn and implement agency practices and procedures.

• Observes confidentiality rules and respects patient rights.
• Competent in evaluating opioid withdrawal signs and symptoms.
• Understanding chemical dependency as a primary illness with appropriate referrals.
• Competent in recognizing secondary illnesses and referrals.
• Care for both adolescents and adults (no adolescents in opioid treatment).
• De-escalation of volatile patients/visitors.
• Therapeutic counseling methods and practices.
• Basic computer skills.
• Strong oral and written communication.
• Establishing effective working relationships with patients, staff and public.

Responsibilities

• Sets up and administers methadone or Suboxone as ordered.
• Maintains medical procedures and patient care standards.
• Implements physician orders promptly and accurately.
• Keeps physician informed of patient needs and problems.
• Acts as liaison between physician and staff on medical treatment.
• Assists with patient examinations and essential data collection.
• Ensures timely medical documentation and records.
• Obtains needed supplies and equipment.
• Advocates for patient medical needs.
• Monitors environment and agency compliance with policies.
