Job summary

Baptist Health is seeking an Oncology Nurse for a 24-bed oncology unit dedicated to holistic cancer care for patients and families. The role requires careful monitoring, chemotherapy administration, pain management, and dysrhythmia awareness in a multidisciplinary team environment. New graduates are welcome.

The nurse will assess needs, plan and deliver nursing care, and support families through the cancer journey with compassionate, evidence-based practice.

Qualifications

• Active Kentucky RN License is required.
• BCLS certification is required.
• Chemo/ONS certification within 6 months is required.

Responsibilities

• The Oncology Nurse assesses and identifies patient needs and implements appropriate interventions.
• The Nurse establishes and maintains a plan for the delivery of nursing care and ensures interventions are directed to resolve problems.
• The Oncology nurse acts as a family and patient resource to guide them through all stages of the patient’s cancer journey.

About the Unit

Oncology is a 24 bed all private unit that is devoted to holistic care of cancer patients and their families. This challenging environment provides for development of critical thinking skills and head-to-toe assessments, including the care and administration of chemotherapy, pain management, and specialized cancer care. A basic understanding of dysrhythmias is required for oncology patients who may require cardiac monitoring. A multi- disciplinary team of doctors, nurses, dietitians, social workers, and massage therapists provide support to the oncology patients. New Graduate Nurses are welcome.

Job Duties

The Oncology Nurse assesses and identifies patient needs and implements appropriate interventions. The Nurse establishes and maintains a plan for the delivery of nursing care; assures that nursing care interventions and activities are directed to resolve problems; and performs technical aspects of care competently. Oncology nurses must have strong critical thinking skills while providing compassionate care. The Oncology nurse also acts as a family and patient resource to guide them through all stages of the patient's cancer journey.

Minimum Education, Training, and Experience

• Active Kentucky RN License
• BCLS required
• Chemo/ONS certification required within 6 months
