Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk is seeking a Clinical Instructor to lead the orientation of new nursing personnel, guiding them from classroom to clinical practice. The role emphasizes educator, facilitator, and leader responsibilities following ANA standards for nursing professional development.

The position requires NYS nursing licensure, a BSN as minimum, and 5+ years of acute care experience with BLS/ACLS.

Qualifications

Current license to practice professional nursing in New York State.
Bachelor or BSN required; Masters degree preferred.
5+ years progressively more responsible nursing acute care experience.
BLS and ACLS required.
Knowledge of teaching and learning theories, adult education, testing and evaluation.
Ability to communicate with all levels of staff.
Demonstrates high level computer skills.

Responsibilities

Orient new nursing personnel from classroom to clinical setting with the orientee and preceptor.
Assess educational needs using diverse methods (focus groups, questionnaires, evaluations).
Collaborate with content experts to develop activities aligned to objectives.
Document content outlines and apply adult learning principles in planning.
Ensure timely and appropriate implementation of planned educational activities.
Conduct comprehensive, ongoing evaluation of programs and use results for improvement.
