Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk in eastern Long Island seeks a Clinical Instructor for NSG-In Service, Full-Time Days, Monday–Friday 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. The Clinical Instructor will lead orientation of new nursing staff, guiding from classroom to clinical areas.

With roles as educator, facilitator, change agent, and leader, the position requires expertise in adult learning, evaluation, and collaboration with preceptors to ensure quality nursing development.

Qualifications

• Current license to practice professional nursing in New York State.
• BSN required; Master's degree preferred.
• 5+ years progressively more responsible nursing acute care experience.
• BLS and ACLS required.
• Knowledge of teaching and learning theories, adult education, testing, measurement and evaluation.
• Ability to communicate with all levels of staff.
• Demonstrates high level computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Collect pertinent information related to potential educational needs of the nurse.
• Use assessments (focus groups, questionnaires, evaluations) to identify trends and planning needs.
• Gather data from nurses, organizations, consumers, and experts to inform education.
• Derive learner needs from assessment data and define educational objectives.
• Identify general and specific educational objectives for each activity.
• Partner with content experts to develop activities and document content outlines.
• Ensure activities are implemented in a timely, appropriate manner and aligned with objectives.
• Conduct comprehensive, ongoing, criterion-based evaluation of educational activities.
• Monitor quality and effectiveness of Nursing Professional Development practice and propose improvements.
