Sumter School District – Furman Middle School in Sumter, South Carolina is seeking a Science Teacher with a valid SC Secondary Science certificate. The role requires delivering instruction, planning standards-aligned lessons, and maintaining records and safety standards for a 190-day school year.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or above required.
Valid South Carolina Secondary Science teaching certificate.
PACE/Teachers of Tomorrow eligibility considered.

Responsibilities

Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at times designated.
Plans a program of study meeting the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students and state standards in the science subject area.
Establishes clear objectives for all classroom activities and communicates these objectives to students.
Employs a variety of instructional techniques and media suited to the classroom and students' needs.
Utilizes effective classroom management to create a learning-conducive environment.
Aims to implement the District's education goals and objectives in instruction and action.
Takes necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, and facilities.
Maintains accurate, complete records as required by law and policy.
Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
