Job summary

UChicago Medicine Calumet City is seeking a Medical Assistant to join our 100% onsite Primary Care team. The role requires assisting with patient care, exams, and administrative duties in a busy clinic setting.

The successful candidate will be a certified Medical Assistant with BLS, able to work with a diverse patient population and support a collaborative care team. Onsite services include lab, imaging, and immunizations, with a strong focus on patient-centered care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate of a certified Medical Assistant program.
• Active BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
• Phlebotomy training or license if required by practice.
• Minimum of one year of recent experience in a medical office/facility.
• Experience with practice specialty.
• Certified Medical Assistant.

Responsibilities

• Fulfills patient care responsibilities including patient flow, assisting with exams, collecting histories, and charting.
• Performs clerical tasks such as scheduling, records management, and insurance verification.
• Maintains infection control and room readiness; prepares instruments and rooms.
• Responds to emergencies and supports the care team.
• Assists with medical procedures, vital signs, and phlebotomy as needed according to state law.
