Job summary

Carolinas Medical Center seeks a Medical Assistant to prepare patients for exams, collect vital signs, and document health information in a busy GI/Endoscopy setting in Winston-Salem. The role involves assisting physicians with procedures, basic lab work, and administering routine medications under physician orders.

Ideal candidates will have an accredited Medical Assistant program, BLS certification, and knowledge of EMR systems.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program is required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification is required.
• CMA/CCMA/NCMA/RMA/NHCWA/NRMA certification or eligibility is expected.
• 1 year of experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and room patients for exams, obtain vital signs, and document health information.
• Perform laboratory procedures (e.g., throat/nose swabs, wound culture) using aseptic technique.
• Assist Physicians/APP with procedures such as pelvic exams, testing, and minor procedures.
• Administer routine medications under orders or standing protocols.
• Coordinate patient flow, referrals, and communication with the health care team.
